SXSW Sessions

Sep 14, 2020

What happens when we look at the world from a female point of view? What can audiences gain by looking at film through a female lens? Organized in conjunction with Fandango, this session opens a conversation about seeing film and being seen in film for those who don’t identify with being white, cis, or male.

Inspired by her book "The Female Gaze", the panel was moderated by author and Turner Classic Movies host Alicia Malone. Joining Malone are Chelsea Hernandez, Kestrin Pantera, and Karen Maine - three filmmakers who share their experiences and offer insight about navigating the intersection of art and identity.
